Liver Disease Cause – Main reasons

When The Liver is Overtaxed, Domino Reactions Always Follow – What Makes the Liver Become Dysfunctional?

What Makes the Liver Dysfunctional?
  • External or environmental toxins that stagnate in the liver and gallbladder
  • Overmedication — all pharmaceutical medications are metabolized in the liver
  • Excess of proteins and dairy in diet
  • Not enough naturally-occurring enzymes in diet
  • Excess accumulation of fat in the liver, such as fatty liver
  • Overconsumption of processed and junk foods. These are foods that are meant to fill, but have no nutritional value whatsoever; they are usually high in indigestible hydrogenated oils, so they end up accumulating in the liver and intestinal tract. They are also high in refined carbohydrates and sugar.
  • Chronic abuse of alcohol – all alcohol is metabolized in the liver. This is why alcoholics have a high incidence of enlarged liver, fatty liver or alcoholic liver. Abuse of this crucial organ leads to stress and disease.

Toxicity Is The Main Cause of Liver Disease

The single greatest cause of liver disease is toxicity, or the accumulation of toxins therein. The liver plays a major role in clearing and transforming potentially damaging chemicals. For this reason it is more susceptible to injury and toxicity, called hepatotoxicity. Whether these chemicals are environmental toxins or pharmaceutical in nature, prolonged exposure to them brings about more serious complications.

Examples of common toxins that most westerners are exposed to are herbicides, pesticides, fluoride and chlorine, industrial or household chemicals, heavy metals (arsenic, lead, mercury etc.). All of these have a cumulative detrimental effect in the liver because they are there to be transformed and cleared.

On the other hand, there are over 900 drugs that have been associated with liver damage.[1] Drug induced liver damage is to blame for 5% of all hospital admissions and 50% of all acute liver failures.[2][3] For this reason, individuals that have made taking medications for extended periods of time a way of life, are at higher risk of liver toxicity or more serious liver issues. These individuals are also more susceptible to gallstone pain and other gall bladder symptoms. Cleansing the liver and gallbladder is of grave importance especially to these individuals.

When The Liver is Overtaxed, Domino Reactions Follow

When the liver gets overtaxed, it gets inflamed or gets congested with toxic waste and fat; the result is a fatty liver. The presence of excessive toxins and fat in the liver transforms bile thick and toxic; its flow becomes sluggish. To compensate, the liver increases pressure. The elevated stress is usually accompanied by discomfort over the liver.

Mind you, there are various degrees of a fatty liver. You do not wake up one morning having a fatty liver and having a clean and normally functioning liver the day before. A fatty liver is a condition that builds gradually over time and is brought on by lifestyle and dietary choices.

When the liver looses the ability to purge waste and cholesterol deposits, domino reactions always follow. Gallstones only crystallize when there is thick toxic bile.

Too Much Protein Stresses the Liver

Excessive protein consumption is perhaps the greatest cause of liver dysfunction. Proteins must be broken down into smaller components, some of which are ammonia and urea. Both of this can stress the liver and the kidneys because, these organs are forced to work extra hard in trying to alter these substances and eliminate them from the system. Excessive protein consumption eventually leads to higher levels of LDL cholesterol, and the formation of fibrin spicules in blood and tissues in the liver. The fibrin build up in the liver covers and replaces healthy liver cells.

The reduced number of healthy liver cells in the liver leads to a cascade of health problems and symptoms that are not necessarily confined to the digestive system.

Parasites and Viruses

Parasites and viruses can cause liver inflammation and reduce liver function. Viruses that cause liver damage (Hepatitis A, B and C) can be spread through semen and blood, contaminated food and water, or contact with an infected person.

A healthy and uncompromised immune system, coupled with a balanced nutritional diet can potentially ward off any pathogens.

Immune System

What is an autoimmune disorder? It is a condition where the immune system is unable to differentiate between health tissues and foreign, undesired substances and seems to attack itself.

The question is why would a highly intelligent system, the body, that is able to carry hundreds of thousands of tasks and processes within the body, lose its ability to detect a foreign substance that can potentially be harmful. It is not that the body has lost its ability to differentiate, but that the level of toxicity has reached such a high degree, toxins are embedded across different tissues in the body, and the immune system is attacking them all, making it appear as if it is attacking itself.

Solution: detoxify, replenish nutritional deficiencies and the body will heal itself.

Some diseases of the immune system can attack the liver. Examples of these liver autoimmune diseases include the following:

  • Autoimmune hepatitis: A condition where the immune system attacks the liver cells
  • Primary biliary cirrhosis: Progressive attack of the bile duct system
  • Primary sclerosing cholangitis: Inflammation of the bile ducts

Heredity

It is generally accepted that an abnormal gene inherited from one or both parents can cause substances and growths to show up on the liver, as well as promote overall liver damage. Generally accepted hereditary liver diseases include the following:

  • Hemochromatosis: Excess accumulation of iron in the body
  • Hyperoxaluria and oxalosis: Excessive urinary release of oxalate
  • Wilson’s disease: Excessive accumulation of copper in the tissues

Lifestyle Choices are Passed from One Generation to AnotherHowever, genetic aberrations are today blamed for nearly every human ailment known to men, just because they seem to appear in the parents and their offspring.

Question: which is more likely: that imperfect genes cause liver damage, or that in the majority of cases, liver damage results from faulty and self-injurious dietary habits and lifestyle choices? Please emphasize this question as I think it is important.

The reason why certain diseases seem to appear within certain family trees is that dietary habits and lifestyle choices are passed down from one generation to another. The offspring from an Indian family that is used to eating deep fried Vada and Jalebi, is very likely to still eat the same food when they leave home regardless of geographical location. That is why individuals from Indian descent tend to suffer more from gallstone formation and gallbladder problems than people from other cultural heritages. It would be very ill-advised to say that Indian families have a genetic predisposition to get gallbladder problems.

Cancers

Cancer can only develop in a highly acidic environment. Toxicity generates an acidic environment. Eliminate toxicity and the PH will increase to balanced and desirable levels. Then the body will have a better chance in combating any form of cancer.

  • Bile duct cancer
  • Liver adenoma: benign liver tumors
  • Liver cancer
