Jaundice: A Common Gallbladder Symptom
Gallbladder symptoms occur when the organ that holds the bile from the liver develops crystallized toxic masses known as gallstones that are often pushed into the common bile duct where they get stuck and cause gallbladder pain. Gallbladder pain can also take place when gallstones push against surrounding tissues in the gallbladder.
The Role Of The Gallbladder
Under normal and healthy conditions, when there is food in the intestinal tract, the GI tract will signal the gallbladder that there is fat that needs to be digested. It does this by sending a hormone that makes it contract. When the gallbladder contracts, it pushes out some of the bile the body needs to break up the fat in the food we eat. However, when the body has developed these hardened masses inside the organ the gallstones get pushed into the common bile duct along with the bile. The gallstones may obstruct the duct because it is too large to progress all of the way through to the small intestine. Sometimes the gall bladder will become inflamed and irritated and distended to the point of looking as if the organ would burst like a balloon.
Gallbladder disease has become very common all over the world due to wrong dietary choices and lifestyle habits. Initial gallbladder symptoms are similar to the symptoms of some stomach diseases. Bile is produced by gallbladder. The common bile duct transfers bile from the liver to the gallbladder.
Where Gallstones Form
Gallstones can form in the gallbladder, the common bile duct and at the mouth of the pancreas. When there is a blockage in the common bile duct or when the gallbladders is unable to empty itself, food is unable to be completely digested in the intestinal tract which in turn leaves it to putrefy or decay.
Identify Symptoms Of Gallbladder
Excessive vomiting, frequent night attacks, pain in lower abdomen, pain in eyes, headache and pain in shoulder blades are some of the most common gallbladder symptoms.
The most common treatment performed in order to individuals that have a stone that has created a serious blockage of the bile ducts is gallbladder surgery, where a gastroenterologist performs an operation to effectively remove the blockage and restore the path for the bile. In most cases it results in the patient having their gallbladder removed.
